Donations

Why Donate to us?

The BC Newcomer Camp is a Canadian registered charity that operates free summer day-camps for recently arrived refugee children. There is currently a gap in services in the Lower Mainland for recently arrived refugee children aged six to twelve who have missed months, and in some cases, years of elementary school and English language development.

Our camp uses the common language of sports to bring children together in a fun and welcoming environment, to build friendships and further English language skills, building the confidence and skills newcomer children need to integrate and thrive in Canadian school systems.

Have questions on donating with us? Visit our FAQ page! Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we can ensure newcomer refugee children thrive and feel welcomed in their new homes.

Please consider making a donation today.

Where Your Money Goes

We have received some funding from local foundations and the Federal Government, but we continue to rely on your donations to keep our programs running.

What the Parents Are Saying

“ The camp helped my daughter and son to feel accepted and encouraged to learn new skills. The camp influenced my children’s English and helped them to strengthen their confidence and communication skills. My children keep saying how nice their teacher is and it makes me happy to see them improve. I appreciate the camp opportunity and love Canada. ”

— Parent of camp participant

“[My son] could barely speak English and was not socially active. The changes in him really shocked me and I am so grateful my son is part of the camp. He is so confident now and made a lot of friends in the camp. I feel he is much more responsible than before and is passionate to learn.”
